Boring Writing = Bored Readers.

from HERE
Have you ever had one of those days when your blog posts or even your own writing  feels dead, unoriginal, and just not worth it? I bet you have because those days are the worst for me when I just feel like not writing at all. Here is my way of bringing life to my writing and how I get my happiness in it! :D

Break A Rule. Say Something Different.

When you write your regular posts for book reviews or something your readers always know what they are going to expect. A rating, an opinion, a review. That's the thing. IT'S BORING. Sorry if I hurt anyone but it is most of the time and it's not a very interesting blog. But you know I still love you guys. Even for your own writing, many  people have the same concepts and perspectives in a story as a lot of other writers and it annoys me.

So What Do I Do?

On your next blog post or writing project, say something totally and completely different. Break a rule. Don't be scared to go off your daily routine, it's the point you're supposed to be scared.

Scared is good. How are people supposed to not be bored to death by your posts or writing? Whatever kind of different you write, good or bad, people WILL be reading about you.

Write something you would never ever say. I'm not even going to give you a warning for that one, people will be reading your stuff anyway! This will make your work actually alive and boost up your confidence.

What if I wanted to say that even though I'm a total book addict I have never ever touched a single Harry Potter Novel? AND that I watched all the movies anyway!

See? Judge me all you want about Harry Potter, but that got your attention huh? It's also true.

The point is, go out of your regular comfort zone. BE scared, Be afraid. I would rather read a blog or a book that had totally different and original ideas rather than one that stayed safe the whole time.

What are you going to do about it? Opinions? Drop comments below :) -josie

  1. You know every single comment is going to be asking how/why you've never sat down and read Harry Potter because it's fabulous and way way way better than the movies. I mean, the movies were great as far as books-into-movies go, but they had to cut out tons and they glossed over some other things. I think the lack of Peeves in the movies was the saddest, and they way they kinda glossed over Fred's death. :(

  5. This has nothing to do with my blog, but I am in the similar situation with my book. I need to finish a chapter but I feel so uninspired. I never knew it was true until now when authors say writing the middle of a book is the hardest and it is. I know how I want the book to end but the middle is making me want to pull my hair out. Maybe I should make a blog post about that XD

Oh, and I have never read Harry Potter either and I only seen the first two movies.

    1. yeah exactly, I always get stuck in the middle of a story i'm writing because it's just hard to come up with exciting events or action for me.

thanks you for supporting my non- harry potter reader fact. :) don't get mr wrong, harry potter's awesome!

    2. Same for me! I don't want to reveal everything I have planned in the beginning, but I don’t want to load it all in the middle. There needs to me a balance. I have never wanted to rip my hair out more than I do right now.

    3. Haha, it's okay balance eis the hardest part for me. I don't know if there is too much or too little in one part but still keep it exciting. I am working on something right now and i keep putting the middle part off, i keep telling myself to just write. To just write down what you want to happen and edit for a while later.

    4. Totally! But for someone that is a complete control freak like myself, I always go back and edit the earlier chapters which leaves me not writing the chapters that I should write. Ugh, it's just so complicated, but I wouldn't choose any other profession.

  7. Ah, you see. We told you that you shouldn't give up on the dancing just yet...!

In all honesty, it's impossible to write a classic post each time. At one point I was posting every day, whereas now I'm down to once a week. It's easy to fall into the trap that people will stop visiting, but you just have to be realistic.

I once posted a pic of a dirty toilet, in an attempt to be different.

I don't think it impressed anyone.

    1. Haha, it would have gotten my attention though! Thanks for supporting me michael, it has been really hard for readers to actually pay attention to what you write. It's like im in this huge world of blogging and here i am in the corner jumping up and down asking for people to come and read my blog. (Sigh)

So you do have a good point there. And don't give up just yet, A toilet CAN be impressive. Just towards the rigjt people who read it. I dont know what to say to that actually. :p
